This measure has prompted many debates among American citizens. While some Americans believe that illegal Mexican immigrants should be deported, a fair percentage of American citizens feel that steps should be taken to shorten the time it takes
to become an American citizen. Millions of Mexican immigrants can't afford to wait the amount of time currently set forth by the government. The answer to immigration reform probably lies somewhere in-between the two sides.

Illegal immigrants must understand the disadvantages of allowing anyone into the United States illegally. Unlawful entry leads to over crowding in cities and schools. Having a registration system in place helps the United States prepare for the inevitable growth in communities. Americans citizens are expected to have several forms of identification to attend schools, get jobs and participate in many other activities. Anyone wishing to live in the United States and gain citizenship should be required to obey the same laws that govern all American citizens. Illegal immigrants cannot be allowed enter the country without some type of system in place to ensure that they are accounted for.

Most Mexican immigrants are simply searching for livable conditions in the United States. Many Mexicans immigrants don't mind the process it takes to become an American citizen. The problem is that they either don't want to take the time or simply can't wait to follow the proper procedures to become legal citizens. The process can take years in many cases. If the citizenship process was easier and more organized, there would be a dramatic drop in illegal immigrants.

The American Government has to decide how to handle a situation that is already out of hand. Ironically, many opponents of illegal Mexican immigrants are the same individuals saving millions of wage dollars. President Bush benefited from the amount of Latino votes he received in the 2004 election. According to the census, Latinos now outnumber Black Americans, making them the largest minority in the United States. If corporate America and President Bush are going to benefit, measures should be taken to ensure the rights of the new American citizens. The beneficiaries need to speak out against racial profiling and other injustices Mexican immigrants may face. Immigration reform will make a big difference at the polls come election time. Many large corporations and politicians could care less about Mexican immigrants looking for the American dream. They see the benefits of making a decision that won't offend future
workers and voters.

Congress needs to make the BEST decision to make sure there is less resentment from American born citizens. All immigrants currently living in the United States should be mandated to register with the government for their well being, as well as the well being of American citizens. There should be zero tolerance for any illegal entry into the United States after the immigration reform. America still deals with unemployment and low wages for American born citizens. There has to be some type of border security enforced.

The best way to solve this issue is to find a medium between the two. Both Americans and Mexican immigrants have benefited from each other. A compromise must be reached to find the best solution possible; a solution that is carried out in an orderly fashion. The United States government needs to set forth guidelines to ensure that those who are willing to come into the country legally are given every opportunity to become law abiding citizens of the
United States of America.

Immigration Reform
